What a difference a word makes. 2 Peter 1:5 says that we must supply a variety of spiritual disciplines. Does that mean our spiritual maturity is a result of our personal strength? Do we need to figure out strategies to be more self-controlled or loving? Is our success or failure up to us alone? What, and how much, do we actually contribute to our spiritual lives? These questions and more drove my study into everything implied by a single word. Living for Jesus requires Christians to know what is good, but also to be aware of what is evil. Yet as we learn more about Satan, we see more of what it truly means that he's the "god of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4). In this final teaching on who Satan truly is, we look at many specific tools Satan uses to blind the world to the gospel and weaken Christ's followers. It's a long one, but it will also be one that encourages us to lean even more on our perfect Savior.

We did it! This rounds out my lengthy discussion on who Satan really is and what he can do. Although I can't dig deeply into every single verse, this episode will better equip you to think about Satan in a way that fits with the rest of what God's word reveals about Satan, our sin, and what the Christian life must look like. In the end, my prayer has been that a better understanding of how Satan works through worldliness will help all of us see how much we need Jesus for every single moment of our lives.
